Do you have any upcoming vacations plans? I do and my trips will involve a lot of walking which means I’m on the lookout for comfortable size 11 walking shoes. As tall women, we know all too well how difficult it can be to find any shoes in a larger size, let alone a specific type of shoe.
When I think of “comfort” shoes, the first word that comes to mind is not usually “stylish”. However, I’m pleasantly surprised that I have been able to find a couple of cute, comfortable shoes that have worked well for me in my travels.
Boat Shoes
Sperry Top-Sider boat shoes are great for traveling in unpredictable weather because they are water and stain resistant. If you encounter a sudden pop-up shower or find yourself walking across some wet grass, your shoes will generally look just fine after they’ve dried. I own a pair of the Sperry Angelfish boat shoes and have walked miles in them. The footbed is well padded and supportive and the shoes feel very sturdy. I love that Sperry boat shoes go up to a size 12 and come in a variety of fun designs. Here are a couple of pairs that caught my eye and are currently on sale:
Floral Print Boat Shoes to size 12
Also in gray or black. To size 11
Ballet Flats
Well-made ballet flats with a cushioned footbed are the perfect travel companion. I’ve had my Cole Haan ballet flats with the Nike Air technology for two years and recently walked over 4 miles in them in one day. Even after 2 years, the shoes still look and feel great, so it seems they were a good investment.
Here is a pair of flats that are similar to mine, as well as a few other flats that have good reviews:
Cole Haan Bow Flats to size 11
Naturalizer Ballet Flats to size 12
Me Too Flats – to size 13, 7 colors
Barefoot Tess Metallic Flats – up to size 15
Frye Flats to size 12, 10 colors
What I do not yet have in my walking shoe repertoire is a comfortable, supportive (and of course cute) pair of sandals. I’m still hunting for those and will bring you my finds soon! What shoes do you wear when you travel? Do you have a favorite “comfort” brand?
