October is breast cancer awareness month. We all know someone that has been affected by this terrible disease. My aunt Faye died of breast cancer at the age of 50. I was around 10 year old when she passed, but I remember how she was a mentor to many teen girls. She fought the battle for 5 years and did it with courage and a smile on her face. It left a lasting impression on me. I often wonder if she was alive now if she could have beat the disease with all the modern treatment advances. But, there is still more research to be done.
