·Ballet Flats – are simple shoes with great style. Many have rounded toes and are easy to slip on and go.
·Patent Leather- shoes are sleek and sophisticated. You can wear patent leather shoes as an all over solid, or choose a shoe with a strip of patent. Either way they are a hot shoe trend for fall.
·Peep Toe Shoes – are a flirty and fun style for fall. Most often found as dress shoes, they are dressy enough for the office and playful enough for a hot date night.
·Ankle Boots– are the must have shoe trend of the season. Often called shoe boots, they are a short boot that covers your ankle but not much higher. Ankle boots look terrific with opaque tights or skinny pants.
·Mary Jane Shoes – are a trendy shoe style for fall as they have been updated with more grown up style including a thicker strap, double straps or great hardware. Choose Mary Jane style shoes in casual or dressy styles from flats to heels.
·Metallic Shoes – add an element of sophistication to your outfit. You can find metallic shoes in great colors such as gold, bronze and silver in dressy or casual styles. This trend has been hot this summer and continues into fall.
·Quilted Shoes- add great texture to an outfit. You can find shoes with allover quilting, or a touch of quilting such as on the toe.
·Animal Print Shoes – are fun and fashionable this autumn season. Animal prints are also hot as clothing items, but shoes are a great way to add this trend without overdoing it. Choose animal prints such as zebra prints, leopard prints, cheetah prints or giraffe prints.

Tall Woman Survives Shopping Trip to Mall

When the phone rings at five o’clock in the morning it’s usually a bad sign. I answered the phone to find out my mother was in the hospital and I needed to take an emergency trip out of state. I scrambled to make arrangements for my older children while I would be gone. Then I hurriedly packed my suitcase with a few items of clothing for my baby and myself and drove 7 hours to get to the hospital.

What I thought would only be a few days visit, ended up being much longer. Guess what? I did not bring enough clothes and the clothes I brought were pretty strange looking. As a 6’1″ tall woman, I prefer to shop online as I can find exactly what I need easily and hassle-free. In my desperation I ventured into the mall to find a few shirts. Luckily I had actually brought some decent tall pants, but I needed a few tops. Here is how I survived shopping in a mall where women’s tall sizes are extinct.

I ventured into a department store and immediately tried to find a tall salesperson to assist me in finding some clothing as I figured they would understand how best to help me find clothing that fits my tall stature. To my dismay I could not find anyone tall working there. I quickly scanned the area for the sharpest dressed saleswoman. I finally found one that was extremely helpful.

I explained to her that I needed some tops in longer lengths. She found some great options for me and I even ended up with a few 3/4th sleeves jackets that were really cute over my longer tunics and shirts. As this store did not have tall sizes it took quite a bit of searching to find what I was looking for. Had I not been aided by a friendly salesperson that was familiar with the store, it would have been a nightmare.

I made sure I had an open mind, as some of the items suggested did not look too great on the hanger, but I loved them once I tried them on. I was also able to educate the woman as to what looks great on tall women as she kept handing me small printed shirts and I was able to explain that tall women need to keep everything in proportion to their size- meaning bigger patterns and strips etc. I was pleasantly surprised that what could have been a shopping fiasco turned into a fun experience.

Although I still prefer to buy tall sizes and I have my favorite tall stores to shop in, thanks to the help of a great saleswoman, I was able to survive my shopping trip to the mall.

A Personal Note from Krista

On this day of grief for our country, let us pause to remember all of the victims of 9/11 including the emergency workers who put their lives on the line daily for us. My father was a Marine in Vietnam and then was a career policeman. He died in the line of duty when his helicopter crashed while searching for a missing toddler. Today I pause to say a prayer for all policemen, firefighters, emergency workers and soldiers everywhere that they may be protected and blessed for their efforts to help all of us. I also pray for peace and harmony throughout the world. At the very least, remember to post your flag today!
Thanks,

Krista

Tall Women’s Clothing Trends for Fall

By Krista Mayne

As a tall woman, I have struggled my whole life with fashion trends. Many of the fads look ridiculous on my tall stature. However, I love to look trendy without looking like I have tried too hard. Here are some of the current fashion trends for fall that I can incorporate to look great with my height.

1. Grey is the new black of the season. Grey pants, grey tall jeans or a grey shirt are the foundation pieces for any tall women’s fall wardrobe.

2. Texture is really hot this season. Get some large handbags and large purses with lots of texture. Some of my favorites are the new quilted handbags in bold colors, animal printed bags and belts and shiny items. Play up your accessories with lots of texture, but remember to keep the patterns big to balance out your tall proportions.

3. There are many women’s tall jeans on the market this fall. Two of the hottest trends are straight leg tall jeans and wide leg tall jeans. They look hot on just about any figure- whether you are tall and thin or a little on the heavy side. If you get these jeans in gray, you will be a “Tall Fashionista”.

4. Bold graphic prints are still in style for fall, which is great news for tall women. Graphic prints can be found everywhere and most of them are in large patterns. Large patterns are key, as they look great on tall women. Small patterns will make you look out of balance, so avoid them.

This fall, tall women have lots of great tall clothing options that will work great with our tall statures.
